Dark Circles: Say Buh-Bye to Dark under-eye circles

Ever heard from someone “You look exhausted, are you ok”? This seems horrific. I’m the type of person who gets dark circles under the eyes almost right away if I’m not caught up on my sleep. Working behind schedule for work deadlines at late night makes my eyes a dead giveaway for the amount of sleep I’ve been getting.

I’ve recently started noticing how tired and dull my eyes look in the pictures and ain’t comfortable with it. That’s why I decided to do something about it. As they say; “eyes are a reflection of your spirit” no one wants such an essential facial feature look dull and fatigued.  

After a bit of research and trying out different tips, I’m thrilled to say that my experiments worked and have lightened my dark circles. Here are the important tips and tricks you should strictly follow to get rid of dark circles.

Common habits to prevent dark circles

Change your bedtime

Obviously, this first tip is the most important if you want your eyes to feel rested. You should get more sleep! I have to force myself to get into bed at least before midnight so that I would wake up at 6 AM without feeling restless. I usually keep myself busy and productive throughout the day. As a consequence, I don’t have to struggle to go to bed on time. And the cycle repeats.

Initially, I found myself feeling restless in the bed so early, but by the third day of doing so, I started enjoying this. I found myself waking up with the sunrise. 

Replace coffee with green tea

I pledged to swap out coffee/tea for green tea to stick to my goal. Green tea has a bit of natural caffeine, but it’s highly advantageous than tea or coffee. It makes me feel way more calm and relaxed. Seems hard to follow, but it has helped tremendously with my purpose of sticking to a bed-time.

Raise your intake of H2O

If your body is dehydrated, it tries to reimburse for the lack of hydration resulting in dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. That’s why; drinking water is highly advised to keep dark under the eyes at bay. I always keep a water bottle along with me because I love gulping down water whenever I get a chance. You’re supposed to drink approximately 3 liters water a day.

Eyestrain

Long hours in front of a Smartphone, laptop causes serious eye strain. Using them can be addicting too. Eyes straining causes the blood vessels to around the eyes to enlarge and results in darkening of the skin.

I know it’s quite hard, but you should restrict your screen time.

Step out with the sunglasses on

When you step out in the Sun, don’t forget to wear sunglasses. It will not only help you look elegant but also protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays.

Cut back on salt & sugar

As you probably know, sodium aka salt holds water from your body. As an outcome, it causes puffiness under the eyes. Cutting back salt helps in reducing puffiness and makes you look fresh.

Similarly, you should cut out candies, sweets, sugary drinks, and even sweeteners. By doing this, you would see incredible results. The dark circles will start disappearing plus your complexion will start clearing up simultaneously.

Tips to treat dark circles naturally

Tomato juice and lemon juice

Tomato juice can be applied on the affected areas to get rid of the puffiness and darkness under the eyes. Moreover, you can also add lemon juice that works as a bleaching agent. They also contain antioxidants that will help in dealing with the discoloration around the eyes.

Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water.

Cooled off with potato or cucumber slices

This is far from one of the most effective remedies to get rid of dark circles. Place potato or cucumber slices under your eyes for approx. 10-12 minutes. Alternatively, you can grate and extract the juice and apply on the affected areas. Both the methods help in vanishing puffiness and darkness under the eyes.

Cold tea bags

One of the easiest ways to combat these dark circles is to use cold tea bags. For best results, you can use green tea or chamomile tea bags. Put used tea bags in the freezer for 10 minutes and place on the affected areas. Repeat routinely.

Raw milk

Cold raw milk is known for its natural cleansing properties. It also helps in relaxing the areas under the eyes. Soak a cotton ball in the raw cold milk and apply under the eyes for a while. Repeat twice or thrice weekly.

Rosewater

This one is undoubtedly termed as grand mom’s remedy. This refreshing, rejuvenating ingredient helps in lightening the skin and is suitable for all skin types. It works as a toner and helps in reducing the size of pores. Dip cotton pads in the rose water and place over the eyelids. Therefore, you should repeat this every day for excellent results.

Almond oil

Rosewater is regarded to be an immeasurable ingredient to diminish dark circles in a short period of days. There are a number of directions to get free of dark circles, but I have to confess that this one is my favorite.
